All’s Fair
Well… yes, all has been Fair – the Western Idaho Fair, for the past couple of weeks. As President of the Boise Camera Club I’m heavily involved in the fair as the club pretty much puts on the photography exhibition there each year, the fair people contracting with the club to take in entries, assist with the judging, put up the display, have people there to answer questions and help where needed during the 10-days of the event and then get the photos back to the entrants after the fair. It’s all done with volunteers, all members of the club. It’s also the chief source of income for the club.
Of course not only do I make sure all show up for their scheduled details, I am also an entrant myself as the fair is a great place to show your work, be judged against the photos of fellow photographers, and hopefully, win a few ribbons. I’m proud to say this year I did great; A First Place in Still Life with my “Electric Cocktail” image (Week 28), (this photo also winning a Judge’s Choice Award), a First Place in the “Other” category with “Red Bell Splashdown,” (Week 26) and a Fourth Place in the “Nostalgia” category with “Back in Time.” (Week 10). (Note the images are all linked here and were all featured photos in this “Project 52.” I have to say this project has greatly helped my photography grow and the ribbons for my work would help confirm that.
Now, while at the fair I also took my camera and so gathered some shots for use in this week’s Project. They are
featured in the group below, so have a look and click on any of the thumbnails to see the images larger and read their captions.
