Week 20 - MAy 19, 2013
I'm late... I'm late...!
I try and have this project posted each week by Saturday if I can, Sunday at the latest. This week that just didn't happen. The primary reason was that I've just been shooting like crazy, have been involved in other photo projects (just finished a three-session Boise Community Education Class), and simply haven't had time to edit and post here until today (Wednesday 5/22).
What I do have though is some samples of what I have been shooting. Five-days-a-week I'm shooting with my part-time job at Kendall Ford of Meridian. I shoot the photos of the new and used vehicles they have so they can be posted on their website. I average about 10 vehicles a half-day and shoot an average of 25 photos per vehicle, so about 250 photos a day, or 1,250 photos a week. It's not art photography, but I try and bring some creativity to it where I can. The first two photos here are from work, where I use the Nikon D3000 they provide me. Mostly the photos are straight shots, but for fun I did a three-shot (handheld) HDR of this Jeep, a special Moab Industries edition - very nice! Of course we have lots of Mustangs around and they are always cool cars to shoot. (Click any of the images below to view them larger)

Idaho Peace Officers' MemorialAnother activity for the week was the Idaho Peace Officer's Memorial, which I have photographed every year in the 15 years they've held it. I probably made 300 photos at the event this year, so picking just one for this posting was hard, but I felt this one was particularly iconic, telling the story of the ceremony which honors Idaho peace officers killed in the line of duty.
Field trip - Impact ImportsThe Boise Camera Club took a field trip to Impact Imports in Boise, a cool import store with items brought in from all over the globe. Many of them made for great photographic subjects. You could go dozens of times and never run out of interesting subjects. Here are just a couple of the images I made that day.

Reverse-Lens MacrosI've continued to play with various techniques for taking macro shots and have had fun with the use of reversed lenses (see my post from last week) to allow close-up macro photography. One morning this week I lay on my belly taking photos of dewdrops on the lawn. This shot used an old Vivitar 28-105mm zoom (a film lens I used to use on my 35mm Pentax ME Super), reverse mounted on my Canon 50D. I'm having fun with this, but also learning how touchy macro photography is given a very, (sometimes only a few millimeters), limited depth of field.
