Week 51, December 23, 2013
'Twas the night before Christmas
Actually, it's a couple of nights before Christmas as I post this, but I've tried to make my weekly posts each Sunday when possible. I'm delighted I've been able to do this Project 52 and not miss a week for the entire year. It's been a great ride, exploring subjects and kinds of photography I'd never tried before and challenging myself to learn new techniques and means of camera control. I've also improved my photographic vision I think and that is a real plus. I'm not sure what I'll be tackling in 2014 as a photo project. I do know I hope to create a photo book of this past year's work and so that will give me experience with layout and creation of that kind of thing.
I'm also hopeful to be shooting with a new camera and perhaps a new lens or two. Posted here is my "Santa letter" and if you look closely, you will see I've included a Canon 6D and Tamron 28-300 on the wish list. (I hope Santa reads my "Project 52" photo blog!). Fortunately, I'm able to provide him some help just now wrapping up a major photo project I did for the Idaho State Police (my former employer), doing staff photos (over 500 of 'em!) for their 75th anniversary yearbook.
For those of you who've followed my Project 52 this year, I hope you've enjoyed my photos here and perhaps learned a thing or two along the way. I treasure my friendships with my fellow photographers who share this visual journey we are all sharing. So as the last lines of that famous poem say...
But I heard him exclaim, 'ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"
(oh yes... do come back next week for Post #52 - a farewell to 2013 and a welcoming of the New Year!)
