Autumn Arrives
After a long, hot summer things are finally beginning to cool off. In fact, it's been an exceptionally rainy few days lately and I've not been out with my camera as I would have liked. The shorter days and cool nights however have already signalled the trees to go into autumn mode and the fall colors are beginning to show. My maple tree in the backyard typically begins with a few areas of red appearing amongst the green leaves on the rest of the tree. Every day, the spread of red continues to grow and soon the whole tree will be this color. I'm hoping to find more time to get out and do some photography as this colorful season is hands down my favorite and often doesn't last nearly long enough before the leaves have fallen and winter is here.
I took this quick snap with my little Sony DSC-HX5v and then as the image quality wasn't really as good as I might have liked, decided to go for a painterly look using Topaz Simplify. Autumn colors remind me of paintings anyway with bright splotches of color appearring as if an artist touched the landscape with a bright brush, so I think this technique fits.
